Featured Faculty Publication: Mathematical and Statistical Modeling for Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases
Gerardo Chowell, associate professor of Mathematical Epidemiology in the division of Epidemiology & Biostatistics in the School of Public Health is co-editor of the recently published book Mathematical and Statistical Modeling for Emerging and Re-Emerging Infectious Diseases. His chapters, ‘Modeling the Case of Early Detection of Ebola Virus Disease’ and ‘Modeling Ring-Vaccination Strategies to Control Ebola Virus Disease Epidemics’ discuss his research in the transmission dynamics of infectious diseases.
Dr. Chowell is a Second Century Initiative (2CI) hire. He is a member of the editorial boards of BMC Medicine, BMC Infectious Diseases, Mathematical Biosciences and Engineering and PLoS ONE, as well as section editor of the Epidemics Now section of Epidemics Journal.
