Anita Nucci, PhD, MPH, RD, LD,  Associate Professor and Graduate Program Director in the Nutrition department is the lead author on a new paper, Regional differences in milk and complementary feeding patterns in infants participating in an international nutritional type 1 diabetes prevention trial, published in the journal Maternal & Child Nutrition.

Dr. Nucci is National Coordinator in the United States for the TRIGR study (Trial to Reduce IDDM in the Genetically at Risk).  TRIGR is an international, randomized, double-blinded trial, looking at whether delayed exposure to intact food proteins will reduce the chances of developing type 1 diabetes later in life.  The last child was randomized to the study in February 2007 and will be observed until February 2017.  Final results of the study are expected to be available in 2017.
