Research Office Provides Open Access Publishing Opportunities

Open Access LogoIn order to provide faculty with open access publishing options, the Georgia State University Office of Research and Economic Development has funded institutional membership for open access publishers Hindawi and BioMed Central.

Hindawi, which publishes more than 300 journals across a wide range of disciplines, distributes all of its open access content under Creative Commons Attribution Licenses, which permit unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of content, provided the original work is properly cited.  No processing charges or prior approval will be required of faculty who submit manuscripts to Hindawi journals during the 2013-14 academic year.

BioMed Central publishes 255 peer-reviewed, high impact factor journals focused primarily on science, technology, and medicine.  Article processing charges for BioMed publications will be assessed on a per-article basis to be deducted from a limited amount credited to Georgia State University.  Faculty who wish to submit manuscripts to BioMed journals should apply through URSA using this application.

All content published in Hindawi or BMC journals will also be made available through the Georgia State University open access institutional repository.

Faculty who wish to receive more information about this initiative should visit the URSA information page here.  Faculty wishing to provide feedback regarding their experiences with these open access publishers should email research@gsu.edu.
