Dictionary of Literary Biography: New Electronic Resource!

The library has added a new electronic resource to help students with their literary criticism research. The Dictionary of Literary Biography systematically presents career biographies of writers from all eras and genres through volumes dedicated to specific types of literature and time periods. These detailed entries are written and signed by academic experts in the field and include bibliographies and illustrations.

Some examples of volumes available in the database are Contemporary African Writers, Jane Austen’s Life and Novels, and Stephen Crane. Each chapter in the volume provides a  bibliography of primary and secondary sources and uses images as illustration. The database provides basic and advanced searching and allows the user to browse by author or volumes. The library will keep the hard copy volumes in the reference collection on the second floor of Library North (Ref. PS129 .D48), but all new  volumes will be in the database. The database can be found under ‘D’ in Databases by Name on the homepage, library.gsu.edu.
