Moving Image Studies PhD Student Wins Prestigious Award
A hearty congratulations to Justin Horton, a PhD student in the Communication Department’s Moving Image Studies Program. Justin was recently informed that he won the Society for Cinema & Media Studies‘ highest honor in the Student Writing Award competition for his article “The Unheard Voice in the Sound Film.”
Not only will Justin receive a cash prize (always a bonus for our hard-working grad students!), but his article will also be published in a forthcoming issue of Cinema Journal, one of the most highly-respected journals in the field of media studies.
Justin’s article probably won’t appear in the journal for about a year due to editing and publishing timelines, so in the meantime check out his Master’s Thesis, The Flow of the Water: Contemporary American Realisms, part of the Digital Archive @ GSU.
