Gov. Perdue Proclaims Oct. 3-9 Georgia Archives Week
Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue recently declared October 3-9, 2004, as Georgia Archives Week. On September 23, archivists from institutions statewide assembled at the state capitol building in downtown Atlanta to watch as the Governor signed the proclamation.
Archives Week celebrates the value of Georgia’s historical records, the many ways in which they enrich our lives, and the individuals who work to maintain them. This year’s theme is “Mapping Past to Future.”
The proclamation was drafted by Georgia Archives Week Committee Co-Chair Laura Botts, popular music archivist at the Georgia State University Library. For a statewide schedule of activities, visit the Society of Georgia Archivists web site at http://www.soga.org
