Johnny Mercer Songs Featured in Jazz Concert at the Rialto

New York trumpeter and vocalist Joe Gransden will perform songs by Georgia native Johnny Mercer during the concert, Joe Gransden: An Evening of Jazz, 7:30 p.m., Tues., Sept. 30 at the Rialto Center for the Performing Arts, 80 Forsyth Street NW, Atlanta.

 

The concert is presented by the Georgia State University School of Music Collegiate Series and co-sponsored by the Johnny Mercer Collections at the University Library and the Rialto. Admission is $5–$50. For tickets call the Rialto box office at 404/651-4727.

 

The Johnny Mercer Collections form the core of the University Library’s Popular Music Collection. Among the late songwriter’s papers are manuscripts and correspondence, photographs, draft music and lyrics, sheet music, and Grammy and Oscar awards. Select material from the collection is on permanent display in Library South in an exhibit entitled: Johnny Mercer: The Bard From Savannah.
