Georgia State University Library Recognized in the 2024 Library Design Showcase
ATLANTA, GA (September 9, 2024) — Georgia State University (GSU) Library has been selected for the prestigious 2024 Library Design Showcase by American Libraries Magazine, a recognition of innovative and impactful library design across the nation. This honor highlights the library’s commitment to creating innovative and collaborative spaces for students, faculty, and the community.
The Library Design Showcase is an annual celebration of the most forward-thinking library architecture and interior design projects. Georgia State University Library was recognized for the Library North Study Commons, a 19,000 square-foot space that was transformed from a street-level parking lot into a modern, flexible, and technology-enhanced area that improves the library’s ability to provide essential services and resources.
The GSU Library North Study Commons was recognized in the Advancements in Academics category and is one of only three academic libraries selected for the Showcase.
“The Library North Study Commons reflects our commitment to creating safe spaces that not only support academic excellence, but also foster a sense of belonging for our students and faculty,” said Dean of Libraries Jeff Steely. “We are honored to be included in the 2024 Library Design Showcase.”
Creating the Study Commons aligns with Georgia State’s commitment to placemaking, providing environments where students can connect, study, and engage with a variety of resources that support their academic success. The space offers students more opportunities to collaborate, innovate, study, conduct research and work.
