Fascinated by British and Irish history? Want to learn more about the history of the British Empire and Commonwealth? Thanks to ongoing income from a 1988 National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Challenge Grant, the GSU Library has recently acquired access to the Bibliography of British and Irish History.

Updated three times a year, the Bibliography of British and Irish History currently includes over 490,000 records describing historical writing dealing with the British Isles and with the British Empire and Commonwealth, during all periods for which written documentation is available.

In addition to materials relating to Britain and Ireland, the Bibliography of British and Irish History also includes citations for materials relating to British imperial holdings, including British East Africa, South Africa, India, and Palestine, among others.  The Bibliography also includes the contents of the Irish History Online projects, with extended coverage of the Irish diaspora.

The Bibliography of British History is searchable by keyword, title, author, subject, place name, personal name, and/or time period. You can access the Bibliography through the library’s list of databases. The Bibliography is not a full-text database, but using the Find it @ GSU button by a citation will link the user to a resource if it’s available electronically or in print through the GSU Library.
