Now available: Classical Music Library
GSU users now have online access to Classical Music Library from Alexander Street Press:
Classical Music Library is an ever-growing, fully searchable classical music resource-a comprehensive database of distinguished classical recordings. It includes tens of thousands of licensed recordings that users can listen to on the Internet. The audio selections are cross-referenced to a database of supplementary reference information. Users browse, search, click, and then listen to the music over the Internet through their headphones.
Classical Music Library contains music from Medieval to contemporary, from choral works to symphonies, operas, and the avant-garde. Weve licensed multiple versions of works to enable comparative listening by students-a major bonus for academics. Users can listen and learn at any time from any computer, while simultaneously searching and browsing the reference database.
When appropriate, links to additional information in Grove Music Online are included.
NB:
Users can create a login name and password to create and save custom playlists, and there is also a download purchase option, whereby users can select tracks for purchase with a personal credit card.
In order for audio to stream properly, there are certain computer platform, browser, and plug-in software requirements, which are listed in the database details (i) section for this database. If you’re having trouble getting audio to stream, check these first.
This database can be accessed via the Library’s List of Databases.
