New Resource: IBISWorld
The University Library now offers access to IBISWorld, the “world’s largest publisher of independent and up-to-date industry research and analysis.” The reports are presented in an objective, easy-to-understand format.
The US INDUSTRY module provides detailed information on 700+ industries at the 5-digit NAICS code level. Report segments include Industry Definition; Key Statistics; Market Characteristics (market size, etc.); Segmentation (e.g., major market segments); Industry Conditions (e.g., barriers to entry, regulation, industry volatility); Performance (current and historical); Key Competitors; Key Factors; and Outlook. This module also includes “special reports” on key industries, such as Biotechnology, Video Games and Tourism.
The CHINA INDUSTRY RESEARCH REPORTS follow the same structure and format as the US reports and provide analysis into 200 of the most prominent industries operating in China.
Finally, the BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT REPORTS provide short summaries of data and analysis on over 250 economic drivers, categorized in seven “environments” that surround the economy. These include global and domestic influences on US businesses such as interest rates, commodity prices, demographics, and consumer trends.
IBISWorld is sure to be a valuable resource for anyone working on SWOT Analysis, trying to understand an industry supply chain or just keeping up with changes in industry sectors.
