Graduate Photos at the University Library

Congratulations, graduates!

The University Library sends congratulations to all Spring 2026 graduates! We are proud of you and all that you have accomplished. We wish you all the best in your next chapter.

We are honored that so many students want the library to be part of their graduation photos. However, experience has taught us that we need to provide some guidelines so that photo shoots don’t disrupt your fellow students.

Normally, students need to fill out a Filming & Photography Request Form for a photo shoot. This is so that we can work with the photographer to identify times and places that are appropriate. For graduation photos, we want to make the process simpler for everyone. Therefore, we do not require a completed form, but we do have some rules. These rules apply 28 March 2026 through 27 April 2026:

1. Photographers and their subjects need to follow the Library Filming and Photography Policy

2. Students and their photographers need to check in at the Library North desk. Photographers who do not have a Panther Card will need to provide a government-issued photo ID. A security guard registers non-GSU guests in our visitor management system.

3. Only one photographer may accompany a student, and the photographer is limited to one bag of equipment, which is subject to search by security.

4. During weekday hours (Monday – Friday, 7 am – 5 pm), graduation photo shoots are allowed in only two locations:

  • the 3rd floor of Library North and
  • the Library North Terrace (2nd floor).
  • No photography is permitted on floors 5 – 8.

5. After 5 pm and on weekends, photography is permitted in other areas, but photographers should be respectful of students studying as they select locations. No photography is permitted on floors 5 – 8.

No photo shoots are permitted from 28 April – 5 May because of finals. From 6 May forward, students should use the Filming & Photography Request Form.
