PubMed URL change – We now have a new option to find full text for free!

We’ve just changed the PubMed URL to: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sites/entrez?otool=gaudtolib&holding=gaudtolib,deepblue to include links to free articles from the University of Michigan’s Institutional Repository. Please update your bookmark for PubMed if you have one.

The “holding=gaudtolib, deepblue” string allows both the “Find it@GSU” button and the “Full Text Provided by M Library” button to display. The “Full Text Provided by M Library” button links the PubMed article record to the record in Deep Blue, where we can find the full text for free.

As of writing, there are over 10995 articles in PubMed that are also available from the Deep Blue. Clicking on the “Full Text Provided by M Library” button will take you to the University of Michigan repository, and you should find the full text article there.

So, if an article is not available through our library but shows the “Full Text Provided by M Library” button, we can get the article from Deep Blue – no need to go through Interlibrary Loan.

Here are some examples: PMID 18432388, PMID 18297948, and PMID 18091003. Enter the PMID number in the PubMed search box, find the article record, and try both “Find it @ GSU” and “Full Text Provided by M Library”. You’ll see we don’t have access to these articles through our subscription but we can get their full text from the Univ Michigan’s Deep Blue.
