Periodicals Contents Index is now Periodicals Index Online

Periodicals Index Online is the new name for Periodicals Contents Index – a database of millions of article citations published in the arts, humanities and social sciences, across more than 300 years.

In addition to a new name, the database also has a new interface:

This has improved both the speed and accuracy of searches and also makes possible two important new enhancements to the search experience.

The first is the provision of summary information about the results of each query. This information (such as a list of those journals that contain the greatest number of results matching the search criteria, or the most common languages of articles found) can then be used to filter and narrow the list of results.

Secondly, a new “Quick Search” appears on every page of Periodicals Index Online and Periodicals Archive Online. This will allow users to conduct simple queries from anywhere in the service, using a range of pre-defined options. For more detailed searching, the full search screen can be used, with all fields and options made available.

Periodicals Index Online can be accessed via the Library’s list of Electronic Resources & Databases.
