90th Anniversary Celebration
University Archives celebrated the university’s 90th anniversary and Georgia Archives Week with an Open House. Artifacts, photos, and documents relating to the university’s 90-year history were displayed, mascot “Pounce” entertained guests, and members of the university community won nice prizes for participating in a lively “unusual facts about Georgia State” contest. Guests also enjoyed a faculty authors display and a slide show of historic university photographs. For pictures of the open house, click here. On October 7th, Dr. Merl E. Reed, historian, Professor Emeritus, and a founder of the Archives, presented a fascinating talk on “Turning Points in GSU History” based on his research into the university’s early history. The talk was well attended by both current and retired members of the university community.
