Please join us at the Rialto Center for the Arts on Friday, February 26th at 8:00 pm in celebrating one of America’s most prolific songwriters, Johnny Mercer. Vocalist/trumpeter Joe Gransden, jazz vocalist Kathleen Bertrand, and the Georgia State University Jazz Band will pay tribute to Mercer’s incomparable legacy by performing a selection of his many hits. The evening will also include a special appearance by Grammy nominated recording artist Marilyn Maye.

Georgia’s own Johnny Mercer wrote more than 1,400 songs between 1929 and 1976, received eighteen Academy Award nominations (winning four times), and co-founded Capitol Records. His personal papers and related collections are held in GSU’s Special Collections and Archives.

Concert tickets can be purchased through the Rialto Center for the Arts.

Questions about the Johnny Mercer Collections in the Special Collections and Archives should be directed to Kevin Fleming, archivist, Popular Music and Culture Collection, at 404-413-2880 or archives@gsu.edu.
