Institute for Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Speaker: Dr. Roopali Mukherjee, “Cadillac Consumer: Black Material Culture and the Care of the Racial Self”

Dr. Roopali Mukherjee, Associate Professor at Queens college, CUNY, New York, will be speaking on Thursday, April 11, 2013, on “Cadillac Consumer: Black Material Culture and the Care of the Racial Self.”

Dr. Mukherjee is the author of Racial Order of Things: Cultural Imaginaries of the Post-Soul Era (2006) and co-editor with Sarah Banet-Weiser with Commodity Activism: Cultural Resistance in Neoliberal Times (2012).

Dr. Mukherjee’s talk will be held on Thursday, April 11, at 4:30 pm in the Special Collections Room, Library South 8th Floor.
