GSU Faculty Florian Enescu and Yongwei Yao on Commutative Algebra

Book cover for Progress in commutative algebra 2Check out new book chapters by two of our Mathematics & Statistics faculty members: Yongwei Yao, in Progress in Commutative Algebra 1: Combinatorics and Homology, and Florian Enescu, in Progress in Commutative Algebra 2: Closures, Finiteness and Factorization. The two volumes collect papers stemming from the 2009 Fall Southeastern Mathematical Society Meeting; one of the aims of the books is to collect papers from the two main camps of commutative algebra, Noetherian and non-Noetherian, and encourage communication and collaboration between the two.

Dr. Yao’s chapter, “The Compatability, Independence, and Linear Growth Properties,” covers primary decomposition and secondary representation of Noetherian rings and modules. Dr. Enescu’s chapter, “Finite-Dimensional Vector Spaces with Frobenius Action,” presents a comprehensive look at a theory that has appeared in the mathematical literature in a piecemeal way, causing needless repetition of research.
