Life Magazine
Cover of Life, June 19, 1944

The Reader’s Guide to Periodical Literature is an index of articles published in popular general-interest magazines, with citations going back to the 1890s. It’s a terrific resource for finding film and book reviews, as well as articles on any topic likely to be discussed in popular magazines like Time, Life, the Saturday Evening Post, Ladies’ Home Journal, National Geographic, and many other magazines popular during the 20th century.

Reader's Guide to Periodical LiteratureUntil now, the GSU Library’s only access to the information in the Reader’s Guide has been through the large green print volumes in the Reference Section on Library North 2, organized by year of publication. But now, we’re excited to announce, you have access to the riches of the Reader’s Guide through the newly acquired database Reader’s Guide Retrospective, 1890-1982 (for dates after 1982, see the print version). More than 375 magazines and periodicals are covered, and many titles are indexed back to their first issue.
