GIL Universal Gets Alternative Interface
Whenever Georgia State University Library doesn’t have an item I need in the collection, I turn to GIL Universal. It’s the library catalog for all schools within the University System of Georgia. Through a state service called GIL Express you can order books from these schools so you can check them out here at GSU. I use it all the time and often send myself the records of items I might want to check out. Just this morning I used it to see if The Journals of Spalding Gray was available. It turns out the University of Georgia just ordered it!
The GIL Universal catalog now has an alternative interface called GIL-Find Universal that allows you to narrow searches through facets, similar items and tags. You can even preview items in Google Books, get instant APA and MLA citations and text the records to yourself. GIL-Find Universal will list similar items to your search, letting you discover items you might not know about. Finally, this interface is mobile friendly, so you can search from a smart phone if necessary.
If you encounter any problems using GIL-Find Universal, please use the “Provide Feedback” button on the top left side of the site. Your input is valuable in helping us provide a service that meets your needs.
