Vatican Library Scholar to Share Insights on Rare Greek Manuscripts

The Georgia State University Library will host a special presentation by Dr. Luigina Orlandi of the Vatican Apostolic Library, offering an extraordinary glimpse into the history and treasures of one of the world’s most storied research libraries.

Dr. Orlandi will share images and insights that trace the formation of the Vatican Library and highlight its rich collection of Greek manuscripts, shedding light on how these ancient texts have shaped scholarship for centuries.
For students, faculty, and researchers in fields such as history, religious studies, art history, linguistics, and library science, this event presents a rare opportunity to learn directly from a scholar with decades of experience preserving and advancing global cultural heritage.
Dr. Orlandi recently retired after 34 years at the Vatican Library, where she served as Director of Institutional Advancement and, previously, as Director of the Cataloguing Section. Her extensive background in librarianship, philology, and ancient book management continues to inform her ongoing collaborations with the Library.
Whether you are a student exploring early literature, a faculty member teaching cultural history, or a member of the Atlanta community with a passion for archives and rare books, you’ll come away with a deeper appreciation for how ancient collections continue to inform modern scholarship.
