What are YOU listening to? Plug into the GSU Library’s Summer Music Playlist

We’ve all heard of summer reading, but what about summer LISTENING?

The summer is a great time to read books and listen to music.

As summer approaches, is there a song that defines summer for you? Is there a song that makes you think of your favorite person, reminisce about an unforgettable summer excursion from your childhood, or imagine your dream future vacation?

GSU Library staff were asked these questions to curate a playlist. One staffer selected “Before I Let Go” by Frankie Beverly and Maze because it is played at every family gathering in the summer.

Another selected “Knock on Wood” by Amii Stewart:

Where I grew up, we had a little amusement park on Lake Shafer called Indiana Beach, which was open just during the summers. And it had a teens-only dance club that I think was officially called “Cloud 9” but we just called it “The Disco”… and it was THE SCENE for dancin’. “Knock On Wood” was one of the songs that was a group line dance. Picture a bunch of goofy Indiana farm kids with 80s hair and fluorescent-accented muscle shirts with very little rhythm trying to cool vibe and you’ll get the gist.

Take a listen to this very eclectic playlist.

Now it’s your turn!
