Collection Changes – Wiley Journals

The University Library continues to implement emerging best practices for the management of library subscriptions in a time of budgetary constraints and rising journal prices. Last year, we transitioned our Springer journal subscription from a comprehensive bundle of thousands of journal titles to a smaller, curated list. We are undertaking a similar process with our Wiley journal package this fall. We are examining cost per use data, article citations by institutional authors, open access availability of articles, and articles published by institutional authors. The list of titles we are keeping is here. These cuts will go into effect in January 2022.

These decisions allow the University Library to realign what we spend on collections within the university’s allocation, accommodate rising subscription costs, and provide a sustainable model that enables the library to build a more tailored collection to serve the evolving needs of GSU.

All members of the GSU community will continue to have access to the resources they need to do their research. Subscriptions are just one mode of access to research publications, and we are committed to helping researchers navigate alternatives. For canceled titles, full-text access will continue to be available for previously subscribed content. If you need access to an unavailable article, please request it via Interlibrary Loan. In most cases, we can obtain a copy in less than 24 hours.
