Mayor Reed and local politics
In anticipation of becoming more involved with the problems of the Atlanta School Board, Mayor Kasim Reed has considered requesting permission from the State Government to appoint additional school board members (AJC 21 March 11). This raises many questions, among them – What authority does a city mayor have? How is a city government organized?
To help with these questions the University Library has many resources on the subject of local government.
Including:
Governing states and localities. By Kevin B. Smith
Mayors and the challenge of urban leadership. By Richard M. Flanagan
The Library also has a new research guide on the topic of Atlanta Government. Research guides assist students in locating relevant resources and/or information on a particular research topic. It also includes the name and contact information for a librarian who can assist you in researching that topic.
