University Library Journal Cancellations FY 2011
The list of cancelled journal titles is now available online at http://webapps.library.gsu.edu/journalcancellation/list.php . Journal cancellations will take effect January 1, 2011. Alternative access to a journal title may be available through one of the library’s databases. Please search the E-Journal Locator to see if a title is available. If alternative access is not available, please use Interlibrary Loan.
We proposed 1,092 titles for cancellation totaling $489,427. We cancelled over 600 titles totaling approximately $180,000. We received 1,523 comments from 301 individuals. If a title received no comments, it was cancelled; approximately 65% of the titles cancelled received no comment. Other titles that were cancelled lacked comments that were sufficient to justify retention of the title.
Over the last two journal cancellation projects we have cancelled approximately 25% of our journal titles.
Where feasible, print titles retained from the proposed cancellation list are being converted to online access, which will take effect in January 2011.
