Publications of the New Associate Provost
The Georgia State University Provost has just announced that Dr. Peter Lyons, formerly of the University’s School of Social Work, will be moving into the position of Associate Provost for Institutional Effectiveness.
Dr. Lyons has a long history of work and publishing in the area of effectiveness assessment, particularly as it relates to child welfare services.
His most recently released article, “Child Well-Being Scales as a Predictor of Casework Activity and Services in Child Protection,” appeared in volume 3 issue 2 of the Journal of Public Child Welfare in 2009. This piece, which he wrote with Dr. Howard Doueck, assessed whether the Child-Well Being Scales (an assessment tool) had a relationship to the activities of child-protective workers. The article can be ordered via Interlibrary Loan.
Dr. Lyons was one of the authors of the article “Child Protection and Justice Systems Processing of Serious Child Abuse and Neglect Cases.” The article was published in the June 2006 issue of the journal Child Abuse and Neglect. This article also dealt with assessment, though it focused on the the process of child abuse and neglect cases as they made their way through the child protection, law enforcement, dependency court, and criminal court systems.
The library would like to congratulate Dr. Lyons on his new position, and encourage GSU constituents to review his previous works.
