On Exhibit: U.S. Civil Defense, Past and Present

The library’s Special Collections Department presents, Preparing for Pandemonium: Civil Defense Yesterday and Today, on display through November in Library North 1. The exhibit features books, music, and photographs, plus unique artifacts from our archives including a Geiger counter, pictures of the University’s own fallout shelter, and a sample of trinitite (a glass-like byproduct of the first-ever nuclear blast in New Mexico in 1945).

The exhibit was created by Archival Associate Morna Gerrard, Labor Archivist Lauren Kata, and Library Technical Assistant DeAnna Phillips.
