Joyce Clifford, Who Pushed for ‘Primary Nursing’ Approach, Dies at 76

According to the New York Times, Nurse Clifford advocated a partnership of equals between doctors and nurses in the treatment of patients and her ideas were adopted in some of the nation’s best hospitals because they reduced medical errors and improved survival rates. Among her many contributions to the nursing profession is her book “Restructuring: the impact of hospital organization on nursing leadership,” and it can be found here in the library.
