Midterm Elections
Midterm elections, the elections that occur in the middle of a U.S. Presidential term are not as glamorous as those in a Presidential election year – but they have just as big of an impact. For example, consider that as a result of the 1934 midterm election the Democrats not only maintained power but gained additional seats in both the House and Senate. This gain was enough to ensure the legislative success of FDR’s New Deal.
