Celebrating Faculty Scholarship: A Look Back at the Opening Reception of the 2025 Faculty Authors Exhibit

On April 2, the Georgia State University Library hosted the opening reception for the Faculty Authors Exhibit, bringing together more than 60 Georgia State faculty members to celebrate their published work. The event honored the creativity, scholarship, and impact of faculty-authored books.

GSU President M. Brian Blake and Provost Nicolle Parsons-Pollard both attended the reception, showing strong support for faculty research and scholarly publishing. The Provost delivered remarks that highlighted the university’s commitment to fostering academic excellence and cross-disciplinary innovation.

“Faculty-authored publications are more than just books, articles and papers. They are the catalysts that spark innovation, connect ideas and deepen our understanding of the world around us,” said Parsons-Pollard. “Your research helps us explore new solutions to today’s biggest challenges. It drives interdisciplinary inquiry that brings together health and technology, art and social justice, history and innovation – all areas that shape our world in profound ways. Through your scholarship, you show us how to think critically, how to push boundaries and how to see things from new perspectives.”

This year’s exhibit showcases over 40 books published by GSU faculty in 2024, spanning a wide range of disciplines and themes.

The Faculty Authors Exhibit is in the Library North 2nd Floor Gallery through the end of April. We invite students, faculty, and staff to visit, explore the books on display, and check out titles available in the library’s collection.

Thank you to everyone who attended the reception and to our faculty authors for continuing to lead, inspire, and shape the future through your scholarship.
