Happy Birthday Mr. Dickens!

One of the world’s best known novelists, today marks the 200th anniversary of the birth of Charles Dickens.

A prolific writer and commenter on social reform, his books have never been out of print. Scrooge, Tiny Tim, Oliver Twist, David Copperfield…his literary characters are instantly recognizable.

The library has an extensive collection of his works, including the popular A Christmas Carol, Great Expectations, Bleak House, and A Tale of Two Cities.

For more information about Dickens and literary criticism of his works, the library recommends using databases like the MLA International Bibliography, Literature Online Reference Edition, and Literature Criticism Online.

NPR has a nice write up on the 200th anniversary. And check out Google’s homepage!
