The library has a new dean, Dr. Nancy (Nan) Seamons. When asked by a graduate student yesterday, “What’s new in the library?” I replied, “We have a new dean.” Some may wonder, what is a dean? Well here is the answer from the Oxford English Dictionary available online through the Library’s List of Databases Definition: 8. The president of a faculty or department of study in a University, as in the ancient continental and Scotch Universities, and in the colleges affiliated to the modern Universities of London, Victoria, etc. So in other words, she’s the boss, the head honcho, the person in charge, etc. So let’s welcome Dr. Seamons to Georgia State University
