Proquest (ABI) Returns

Posted by La Loria in the Blog: Public Administration and Urban Studies News

The Provost and University Librarian are using one-time funding to purchase access to the ProQuest databases that were cancelled by GALILEO for the remainder of the fiscal year. The databases are ABI/Inform, Research Library, ProQuest Newspapers, and LION Reference Edition (LORE). Access available via GALILEO and List of Databases: http://www.library.gsu.edu/databases/

This will allow time to more thoroughly assess the impact of losing ABI/Inform on research, especially in terms of depth of indexing. Continuing ProQuest beyond this fiscal year would require cutting other subscriptions to pay for the ProQuest subscription, which is likely to be more expensive next year. Decisions about continuing ProQuest, cutting subscriptions to fund ProQuest, and other possible alternatives will be made in consultation with faculty representatives over the next several months.
