Songwriter and Georgia native Johnny Mercer was recently selected to be inducted into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame.  Each year four writers whose work reflects the character of the state of Georgia are inducted into the Hall.  In addition to Johnny Mercer, this year’s honorees include Melissa Faye Greene, Natasha Trethewey and James Kilgo.  The Georgia Writers Hall of Fame, housed in the Hargrett Library at the University of Georgia, will host an induction ceremony in spring 2011.

More information about Johnny Mercer can be found in the Popular Music and Culture Collection, which maintains the Johnny Mercer Papers.

The Popular Music and Culture Collection is part of Georgia State University Library’s Special Collections and Archives Department. If you have questions about this, or any other, collection, please contact us at archives@gsu.edu or at 404.413.2880.
