Internet Creator Endorses Open Access Academic Publishing

Open Access LogoTim Berners-Lee, widely recognized as the creator of the world wide web, publicly endorsed open-access academic publishing at a recent digital productivity and services conference in Australia.  Articles published in both phys.org and The Conversation quote Sir Berners-Lee as saying, “I think the open access activists will win out.”  Reflecting the trending opinion of many scholars, researchers, and intrepid publishers, Berners-Lee continued, “A lot of the data is publicly funded already so it should be available and a lot of the publishers are moving to open access models.”
